Mauritius Island Airport
The brand new Mauritius International Airport also known as the SSR International Airport is now fully operational.
A modern passenger terminal at SSR International Airport which covers a total surface area of 57 000 m2 will be able to handle 4 million passengers annually. The airport is located at Plaine Magnien, at the south east of Mauritius
An environmental friendly airport which is in line with the new vision of Mauritius , with its architecture in glass and steel, the use of solar energy collected by photovoltaic cells, rainwater recovery and green space within the building. The new terminal comprises, amongst others, 52 check-in desks, five boarding gates of which one is A380 compatible, 26 immigration counters, five telescopic passenger boarding bridges, five baggage claim carrousels, a new aircraft parking area and a landside car park located in front of the building.
The new Terminal has cost approximately 260 million USD, with this innovative project Mauritius wants to become the hub for long-haul aircraft transiting the Indian Ocean, delivering improved user’s experience and capacity to welcome bigger airplane a larger amount of aircraft.
The Airport of Mauritius offers two lounges, namely La Terrasse for departures, serving departing First Class and Business Class passengers as well as Premium Commercial passengers and the Arrival Premium Lounge, situated in the airport terminal building.
Intending passengers must hold a valid passport for travelling out of, or into, Mauritius. The passport must have a validity of at least 6 months.
Foreign Exchange Banking:
Foreign Exchange & banking Services are readily available, both at Arrivals’ exit and Departures Check-In area. All major currencies are accepted by the moneychangers (Shibani Finance, Thomas Cook) and banks (Barclays Bank, Mauritius Commercial Bank, State Bank of Mauritius). ATM (Barclays, HSBC, Mauritius Commercial Bank, State Bank) facilities also exist outside the Arrivals' Hall.
Passengers with reduced mobility
Air Mauritius offers services to assist persons with reduced mobility at the airport. Special arrangements may be made for passengers with other disabilities. In the event that we must escort a passenger, we will need to be informed at least 72 hours before departure.
Mauritius Airport Duty-free Shop
Located on the second floor of our terminal as an extension to the Mauritius Duty Free Paradise Co. Ltd., the Duty Free shop offers choices of spirits, perfumes, jewelries, watches, cigarettes and more, which you can conveniently select and pre-order by e-mail or by phone prior to your arrival or departure.
